Tour description
The absolute highlight of the Austrian mountain world is of course the Grossglockner, which at 3,798 m is not only the highest mountain in the Alpine republic but certainly also the most impressive with the 9 km long Pasterze glacier tongue and the special flora and fauna. A trip on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road is a unique experience. This historic high alpine road in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park offers 48 km of driving pleasure and the highest views in Austria. We start our Grossglockner tour from the Lerchenhof in the direction of Kötschach-Mauthen, over the Gailberg towards Lienz, but we turn off towards the Iselsberg and reach the Mölltal, which takes us to Heiligenblut. We return via the rest of the Möll valley towards Obervellach and on to Greifenburg, where we return to the Lerchenhof via the Kreuzberg.
